Tessellations can be sometimes made
of different materials such as tracing paper, index cards, white paper, or maybe
physical material. Tessellations are geometric shapes used in math. And we are
doing this at class. Tessellations must have no overlaps or gaps. Puzzles are
an example of a tessellation, tiles are too. Tessellations are created when a shape
is repeated over and over again covering the whole thing and not leaving any
overlaps or gaps. Also another word for a tessellation is “tiling”. The word ‘tessera’
in latin means a small stone cube. The term has become more specialized and is
often used to refer to pictures or tiles.
